Titanic

Some months ago, BSF became suspicious of self-plagiarism by the discussion of four very similar articles by BSF and two co-authors on the sinking of the Titanic, published in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Rationality and Society. Here is an overview on the four papers; also have a look at the blog by Olaf Storbeck.

David Autor, editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives, pleased BSF to comment on the situation. Afterwards, he meanly published the full correspondence in the journal.

I'd like to point out that Frey also published a German version of the Titanic analyses:

In case you're in doubt: No, the Kölner Zeitschrift—the most prestigious German language Sociology journal—generally doesn't publish German versions of already manuscripts, submitting the paper to this journal was clearly in breach of its submission guidelines:
