Jointly with his PhD student Sarah Necker and Bruno S. Frey they were accepted at the Annual Conference of the German Economic Association with a paper about academic misconduct among European economists. A German version of a study with the same methodology but based on a survey of German speaking economists was later published just under Necker's name in Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik, published by the German Economic Association and edited by Feld himself. A very similar study based on a survey of members of the European Economic Association was published, also just under her name, in Research Policy, and the extremely close relation between the two studies is not made clear to the readers.
